Facebook Twitter: @NeosKosmos Instagram A panel symposium on the Philosophical Schools of ancient Athens is set to take place through the GOCMV’s Greek History and Culture Seminars series. The panel will comprise of Classics and Archaeology staff from the University of Melbourne, including Dr Brennan McDavid, Dr Edward Jeremiah, and Associate Professor Louise Hitchcock, with Dr K.O. Chong-Gossard as moderator of the event.Each philosophical school, from Plato’s Academy, Aristotle’s Lyceum, Epicurus’ Garden, the Stoics, to the Sceptics, had a different approach to ethics and their own prescriptions on how humanity could lead the best possible life. In what is sure to be an insightful evening, the panel will tackle questions from Dr Chong-Gossard and the audience regarding how each school would respond to 21st century political and ethical crises. Through this process, audience members will have the chance to discover which ancient school of thought would work best for them in this day and age.The panel will take place on Thursday 5 May at the Greek Centre, Mezzanine, 168 Lonsdale St, Melbourne, Victoria at 7pm. Attendance is free.
