Conrad Petroleum in ‘successful appraisal’ of Mako gas field

first_imgConrad Petroleum has successfully appraised the Mako gas field with the Tambak-2 well located in the Duyung PSC in the West Natuna Basin, offshore Indonesia.  The Tambak-2 well was spud on October 4 and was designed as an appraisal of the southern area of the Mako gas field. The well was drilled using the Asian Endeavour-1 jack-up rig.Empyrean Energy, Conrad’s partner in the PSC with an 8.5 percent interest, said on Monday that the Tambak-2 was drilled to a total depth of 503 meters true vertical depth subsea (TVDSS) on October 12, 2019.“The coring program, wireline logging, and pressure surveys have now been completed and confirm the well as a successful appraisal of the Mako gas field,” Empyrean stated.According to the company, the top reservoir depth came in as expected, some three meters up-dip from the Mako South-1 well. The company added that the well had developed upper sandstone unit, greater thickness, and overall quality than predicted with wireline logs showing excellent porosity, and permeabilities.Lower unit present, providing overall reservoir thickness of around ten meters, relative to 7.3 meters seen in Mako South-1.An independent review by Gaffney Cline & Associates had previously ascribed gross 2C resources of 276 Bcf (48.78 MMboe) of recoverable dry gas in the Mako field with gross 3C resources of 392 Bcf (69.3 MMboe) representing additional field upside. The next step in the campaign is an extensive drill stem test (DST) program, which will take place in the coming days.Empyrean CEO Tom Kelly said: “The fact that we have confirmed good quality reservoir at a 13.5km step out from the Mako South-1 discovery well is an excellent step forward for this project.“The wireline logs confirm excellent porosity and permeability, and we look forward to the flow testing program to commence.“This is excellent news and progress so early on in our drilling campaign and, with a further well with additional high impact exploration potential to come, we look forward to updating our shareholders of further progress.”Coro Energy, another partner in the PSC, said in a separate statement on Tuesday that the large step out from the Mako South-1 well might move 100 bcf from the 3C category to the 2C category, which could represent a very significant value addition.James Menzies, Coro Energy CEO, stated: “Coro’s first well in Indonesia has delivered a great result […].“We believe the quality of the reservoir found will convert significant volume from the 3C to the 2C resource estimates for the field and add material value to the asset.“Focus now switches to the next step in the campaign, we look forward to the results of the well testing program and thereafter further appraisal and exploration drilling will follow which we see as further significant value catalysts.”last_img read more

Return of Bacolod-Iloilo fast crafts goes smoothly

first_imgPrior to entering the terminal, passengers queue in line as they wait in turn for a temperature check. An isolation room is readily available just in case a passenger registers a high temperature. BACOLOD City – Fast craft vessels plying the Bacolod-Iloilo route set sail for the first time in more than two months after authorities imposed travel restrictions to curb the spread of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). PCG personnel then divide the passengers between Bacolod City residents, and those living outside of the city. Once inside the terminal passengers are required to present their identification when purchasing a ticket and go through the normal security checks. Bacolod City residents only need to submit their health cards and after which they are allowed to go on their way. Negros Occidental residents, meanwhile, undergo testing through real time-polymerase reaction at a swab booth set up outside the terminal’s premises. For arriving passengers, Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) personnel immediately retrieve the health cards issued to passengers prior to disembarkation. Seats in the waiting area are clearly marked in order for passengers to follow social distancing measures, after which another round of temperature check will be performed prior to boarding their vessel. Panay News went to the Bacolod Real Estate Development Corp. (Bredco) port over the weekend and observed that passengers have been fully cooperative with port authorities. Ferry operators are also stringent in enforcing minimum health protocols. They only accommodate 50 percent of the vessel’s total seating capacity and are also seen disinfecting the passenger accommodation areas. BY DOMINIQUE GABRIEL BAÑAGA At the roll-on/roll-off terminal, meanwhile, PCG again divides the passengers, only this time Negros Occidental residents are directed to ride a waiting bus which will take them to the Provincial Healing Center in the town of E.B. Magalona for testing./PN Last week, Mayor Evelio Leonardia and Mayor Jerry Treñas agreed to resume travel between the two cities./PNlast_img read more

What Happens to .ly Domains When Libya Shuts Down the Internet

first_imgA Web Developer’s New Best Friend is the AI Wai… Tags:#Government#web audrey watters When the Libyan government pulled the plug on the country’s Internet access on Friday, many outside the country were concerned about the implications the shutdown would have on the country’s top level domain (TLD). After all, the .ly domain is a popular alternative to the .com, used by a number of companies, but arguably most commonly associated with its usage as a URL shortener. No surprise then, John Borthwick, CEO of Bit.ly was quick to respond to an inquiry on the Q&A site Quora that asked if .ly services would be interrupted with Libya offline. Don’t Worry about .lyThere’ll be no interruption, according to Borthwick. “For .ly domains to be unresolvable the five .ly root servers that are authoritative *all* have to be offline, or responding with empty responses,” he writes. “Of the five root nameservers for the .ly TLD: two are based in Oregon, one is in the Netherlands and two are in Libya.”Borthwick’s response should serve to reassure users of Bit.ly, at the very least. He says that the company will keep the service running, including “offering options around which top level domains you use.” Try .mp, for example (that’s the TLD for the Northern Mariana Islands).Or, Maybe We Should WorryHowever, Kim Davies cautions against a “sense of false confidence” and says we shouldn’t think “that country-code domains are impervious to these kinds of government-mandated Internet shutdowns.” He agrees that the effect of an Internet shutdown may not be immediate, but the effects can still be “devastating.” Davies points out that the servers outside of Libya are still reliant – eventually -on obtaining updates from the .ly registry within the country. “If they are unable to succeed in getting updates, at some point they will consider the data they have stale and stop providing information on the .LY domain.” Davies pegs that at 28 days.Unlike Egypt, which was offline for a week, Libya has had intermittent Internet access. The Next Web posits that the shutdowns in Libya echo some sort of nightly curfew – off at 11pm and on again at dawn. This makes it likely that other DNS servers will update their records and the .ly domains will continue working.Nevertheless, it’s worth noting that this isn’t the first problem that those outside of Libya have had with the TLD. Last fall, the Libyan government shut down Vb.ly, the URL shortener run by sex writer violet blue. The domain was yanked because of its content – as it “fell outside of Libyan Islamic/Sharia Law.” All this should serve as a cautionary tale for anyone obtaining a domain – in Libya or, frankly, elsewhere, as TLDs fall under government scrutiny and seizure, no matter the country. Gates, Dell, and Jobs: Reading Between The Lines Reveals Insights

first_imgThis Jobs – “phone” 2.  The most used word by each of the speakers was also fascinating:  The point the writer of the article was trying to make was that Jobs was much easier to understand by mere mortals.  I was personally surprised to see the variance in the number of words per sentence — I thought they would have been bunched closer together. Dell – 16.5 words per sentence Gates – “devices” — Brian Halligan. Originally published Feb 1, 2007 4:37:00 PM, updated March 21 2013  is a fascinating comparison of the words used by Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, and Michael Dell on recent keynote style speeches.  There are a bunch of interesting things that jumped out at me about this data: article Jobs – 10.5 words per sentence.  Dell – “gaming” 1.  The average number of words used per sentence was incredibly interesting.  3.  The word “cool” is one of the most common utterances out of all three of these middle aged tech industry leaders’ mouths.  I always thought as I got older that I should use the word “cool” less and less, but I guess the word “cool” has become a permanent part of our lexicon. If ten years ago someone told me that the most uttered word out of Bill Gates mouth was going to be “devices,” I would have laughed them out of the room.  Same goes for “phone” for Jobs and “gaming” for Dell.  It’s amazing how these companies have shifted their positioning over the years.  It will be interesting to see which ones pull off these shifts in positioning over the next couple of years. How to Build a Community of Twitter Followers for Your Company

first_img Topics: I’ve been getting this question more and more lately, as Twitter becomes more and more mainstream and the business benefits of Twitter are more and more talked about.First, a word of caution. When engaging in any social media, you want to do so authentically – it will involve a fair amount of your participation, both give and take. Your first step once you join Twitter should probably not be to go follow 1,000 people. First of all, you very possibly might not be able to due to recent limits set by Twitter. This act seems kind of spammy, and that’s the last thing you want to do in social media. You should aim to let your community grow organically. That said, there are a few things you can do to get started. The first thing you absolutely have to do once you sign up for a Twitter account (though you can do this before signing up for Twitter, but you won’t be able to do much beyond this), is start monitoring who and what people are saying about your company. Go to Search.Twitter or Tweetscan (it may be worth it to use both, or even additional Twitter search engines, as they don’t all pick up on everything) and search for your company name, your executives’ names, perhaps your competitors’ names. You’ll see all the recent tweets that mention that name or phrase. What’s also great about these services is you can subscribe by RSS to this thread so you’ll be able to keep tabs on new posts about your company. When someone does talk about your company – respond, favorite the tweet perhaps if it’s favorable, and start following the person.A very close second most important thing to do once you’re on Twitter is to actually engage in the Twitter community. If you want people to follow you, you need to give them a reason to. Post interesting tweets, respond to others (see first point above). As noted in my word of caution, you want to be an authentic participant in the community. One of the wonderful things about Twitter is that you have to opt-in to receive someone’s updates (follow them). So, you need to think of ways to warrant a follow. I’ve been pretty impressed with Whole Foods in this regard. I started following them, though I’m no Whole Foods nut, because of their interesting tweets like “TOTD” (tweet of the day), and interesting food-related tweets like plugging food festivals across the country. Those are really the two most important things you can do on Twitter. But, if you’re still interested in ramping up your Twitter following, here are a few additional ideas:Go back to Search.Twitter and search on more general phrases that relate to the audience you’re trying to reach. Subscribe to those updates and respond/follow as appropriate.Check out the directories, like Twellow. Twellow is a directory of Twitter users categorized by industry or interest. There are a few other cool services, like Twubble and Twits Like Me. ReadWriteWeb posted a great article on these services here.Follow those who follow you. People like to feel like you’re listening to them and that they’re engaging in a two-way conversation with you. A follow-back is a great way to set that environment.Check out who your followers are following. They are likely interested in similar topics, and are a natural extenstion to your existing network. One more thought to consider before you get going: Will you be setting up a company Twitter account or will various employees have personal Twitter accounts (or both)? At HubSpot, we recently launched our company Twitter account @hubspot that a few of us monitor and update. There are also a bunch of us who have our own personal accounts, including our CEO, CSA, VP Marketing, and lots of others from across the company, including myself of course. The question is which brand you are building up – your corporate brand, or your personal brand (which in turn contributes to the company brand as well). I like the mix of both, though a lot of marketers may not have the bandwith to support more than one Twitter account. Either way, the first thing you must do after reading this post is to reserve your company’s name on Twitter before someone else does.If you want to see some companies out there who are doing a great job on Twitter, check out Zappos or Whole Foods. If you want to see a full list of companies on Twitter, check out the new Social Brand Index (and it wouldn’t hurt to get listed there, too, while you’re at it).Have you had any luck building a following for your company on Twitter? Do you have any additional techniques that worked for you? What have you learned from other companies on Twitter – good and bad approaches? Leave a comment and let’s discuss. 5 Steps to Building an Email Re-engagement Campaign

first_img By removing the inactive ones and focusing on the active recipients, you will maintain a highly responsive list. That will enhance your familiarity with the list and let you perform more accurate testing. You might be surprised at how much more effective A/B split testing can get. Be ready for some interesting results! .  at Topics: 4. Perform More Accurate Testing Did you know that, on average, about 70-75% of your email list is inactive? I, too, jumped in surprise when hearing that from email marketing expert Per Caroe of 3. Purge the Dead Ones Photo credit:  Don’t forget to share this post! AddThis Sharing ButtonsShare to TwitterTwitterShare to FacebookFacebookShare to Email AppEmail AppShare to LinkedInLinkedInShare to MessengerMessengerShare to SlackSlack Email Marketing Campaigns We don’t want this to happen. So here is how you can go about a complete re-engagement campaign: What types of emails can you send them? Surveys, birthday e-mails and special promos are among some of the most popular campaigns. Separate the subscribes who responded to your first email and follow up with one of your best offers that they have previously neglected. Don’t be limited by what other companies have already done. Think outside the box and make sure you track the results.   After you launch the re-engagement campaign, you will see that some recipients remain inactive. If the list is actually dead, save yourself some money and remove these emails. Purging data tends to scare marketers since managers like to see big numbers. Don’t make the same mistake by treating quantity as quality.   If the majority of your subscribers are not engaged, you should seriously consider launching a series of re-engagement campaigns. Now that mail clients are using engagement metrics to determine your reputation, improving the levels of activity is crucial not only for revenue growth but also for deliverability. As Tara Natanson of Constant Contactcenter_img , “focus on the first 90 days of messaging.” Make sure your first communication with new recipients is relevant and respectful, prompting them to take instant action and remain engaged. “Turns out the smartest investment lies in making your on-boarding process as strong as possible,” wrote Jeanniey. 5. Make On-boarding Process Stronger While reengagement campaigns can be effective in some situations, they can also be pretty time-consuming and expensive. In order to limit them, you should strengthen the on-boarding process of email subscribers. As Jeanniey Mullen 1. There is a high probability you will get them to act. 2.
